Formed in 1976 in Camden Town, Madness emerged as one of the most prominent bands of the late 1970s and early 1980s 2 Tone ska revival movement. The band’s journey began when core members Mike Barson, Chris Foreman, and Lee Thompson started as The North London Invaders, eventually evolving into the iconic group we know today. Taking their name from a Prince Buster song, Madness quickly established themselves as masters of the “nutty sound” that would define their career.

With an impressive catalogue spanning nearly five decades, Madness has achieved remarkable commercial success with 15 singles reaching the UK top ten. Their memorable hits include the infectious “One Step Beyond,” the playful “Baggy Trousers,” the romantic “It Must Be Love,” and their only UK number one single “House of Fun.” International audiences will recognize “Our House,” which became their biggest US hit and earned them an Ivor Novello Award for Best Song in 1983.
